For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
Meeting Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa, the globally beloved nun, was born in Macedonia, but lived most of her life in Calcutta, East India, where she founded The Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. Mother Teresa died in 1997 at the age of 87. I was most fortunate to meet her in San Francisco, where she was speaking to a small group about a hospital for people with AIDS that she had just bought—it had been sold to her by a close colleague of mine. Just being in her saintly presence was remarkably inspirational.
